Serge Aurier

Believe me I am not saying Walker-Peters is the answer but I would rather have a series of 6 out of 10 performances from him then the one 8 and then seven 4s we are getting out of Aurier.

Can not believe the is not a kid in the academy waiting for his chance like Wan Bisska at Palace did.
There really isn’t.

academy is full of central mids and defenders being shoehorned into fullback

Spot on, Dumb and Dumber.

As soon as Aurier was chasing back with Mane, I knew he would find a way to give away a penalty.

He did well to get the ball but then he needs to shield it and quickly get away from Mane, not take a huge backswing with Mane 1 foot away from him.

I like Aurier but he is reckless That said he and the rest of the defence are so often having to do last ditch defending due to the inability of the midfielders to win the ball and keep it.

Compared to where Aurier was, I am quite happy with his progress. When others were saying we should give him a chance I was arguing he always has 1 or 2 mistakes in him a game. While that is still there, it is much less apparent now. He needs to keep playing, and he can kick on. Full back is one of the hardest positions, you need to be an attacker and a defender. The pen today wasn't mindless Aurier, it was cunning by Mane.

Problem is that he's not an 18 year old kid - he turning 27 soon and makes so many stupid mistakes. If he was 18 then you could persevere, but he's beyond that. We just need to get rid. We won't get close to what we paid for him though, so chances are he'll stay at Spurs for a couple more years, like Janssen and GKN did, before we eventually cut our losses. Wonder whether there's someone in China who might take him?

Exactly. The writing was on the wall some time ago. But now, for me, he is playing the best he has in his Spurs tenure. That is not saying a lot, but it is something to build upon. And the only way forward for him is to play. We don't have anyone better unless Foyth stakes a claim. So he should continue.

Mane is the biggest diver in the Prem, like Andy Johnson for Palace years ago, he falls over every time he’s in the box. He doesn’t appeals for penalties so people don’t seem to realise what he’s doing. He can pass it off as just losing his footing but he’s actually really strong (and balanced) and isn’t even that short. Media should be on his case. That does work. As seen with Fernandinho getting a red on Sat.

Mane got his body in between the opposition player and the ball. Yeah he can fall a bit theatrically, but he's no worse than our own Alli or Kane in his 'cuteness' ...it's just that we are so brick with our attacking we are getting less penalties ourselves, so notice the ones Mane gets more....

Aurier stands strong and is more aware, no penalty...but...well, you know...

Indeed, how we could’ve done with Lamela’s mastery of the dark arts yesterday...

When he plays well he's a very good FB but as ever it's the consistency that lets him down. He doesn't dive in anywhere near as much as he used to for instance and his crossing has been much better this season. I actually thought he played well yesterday and was unlucy for the penalty.

Even though this is his 3rd season he's had injuries and Poch used to rotate at FB a lot, how many times has he played 5 games on the spin for instance to get some proper form and momentum.

Bottom line is weve got to chug along until January. Should be all out for signing a 1st choice RB come Jan.
Still don't mind the idea of Foyth getting a spin there. It has the bonus of getting him integrated into the team,as he's undoubtedly one who is stayin, in contrast Aurier has zero future here, if we're honest.

True but looks how rash Foyth has been in his games for us, that one against Bournemouth was far worse than anything Aurier has done.
