Dele Alli

At his best I think he is a lot more than that.

He is. But at his best he is also lethal next to Kane.

I really hope we can find a way of getting Dele back behind Kane, with a combo of the other guys doing the wide work.

The one interesting piece from the BBC article yesterday was the talk of lack of pressing due to playing on larger pitches than the old WHL. This makes it all the more strange that we've abandoned the 4231 in favour of 41212.

Sheer numbers up the top end of the pitch work better from a pressing/defensive viewpoint and none better knowing the defensive side if it up there than Dele.

Thought he put a shift in yesterday but like Kane he went looking for the ball when he needs to make sure he’s available on the areas of the pitch he can do the most damage.

He'll never refind form without games. About time he got a start.

I wonder, if Eriksen was fit, would he have got it though?
I think he should have, he is clearly our best playmaker (Lo Celso to be seen) and our aim should be to win games.

I know Dele is still finding his form but we created little to nothing yesterday and the little we did create was of very poor standard.

I am telling you, there is a lot going on in Dele's world and he needs careful handling right now to ensure he returns to being the player we know he is. I have steadfastly believed that a happy Dele in behind the main striker is world class. I hope he continues to make progress back to full form. I read someone say he kept dropping in too much for the ball. That is because we are a side learning to play without all creativity going through Eriksen, and is why once Ndombele came on and supplied via his turn and either drive or distribute style in that last 15 minutes, we started to look lively. Lo Celso's injury with Argentina killed us!

I thought he was lucky to not have been hooked by the hour mark tbh. He made some really good runs all game, but was rarely picked out and had to work with receiving the ball often in poor positions with plenty of defenders around him.

Really happy to see him get a goal, but this wasn't a vintage Dele game by any stretch of the imagination.

he was ok yesterday, but I said all though the game, just do the basic stuff, simple passes, turn lay the off, get some match confident's, then do the flicks and dummys etc

But even with Ndom or Lo Celso playing Poch will probably still play the diamond with Son or Moura next to Kane, and then trying to squeeze Dele in somewhere unsuitable (tip of diamond next best in that setup).

A mystery why Ndom didn’t play at the weekend - especially with only 3 attacking players on the pitch and no forward drive from CM.

The sooner we get Dele back towards Kane and the likes of Son, Moura and Lo Celso wide the better.

I also thought Lamela asked the right questions in the right areas when he came on.

It beggars belief that Poch went in without Eriksen, Lamela and Ndom. The only players who can unlock from central.

He seems to think Rose and Aurier can make up the attacking numbers. They can’t imo.

I can only think he didn't want to create any chances of score any goals [emoji58]

You are right it was not a vintage performance and he has looked a shadow of his self this season, however i saw signs on Saturday that he is showing signs of getting his mojo back and that is a good sign.
