Next Spurs Manager

Lamela was, but could easily have gone for more, lesser players did that summer

poch definitely improved things, my issue is that he’s stopped

our business plan is built on finding value in the market and developing it, your last paragraph is pretty much his job description
Thank GHod he didn't as he has been poor value at what he did cost us.

I agree that we've had a lull. However I think Pochettino deserves the chance to try to do it again, this time hopefully with a bigger budget than he had previously.

"Poch took a 5th/6th best team in the PL, spent less than all of those who had finished above him and still turned it into a top four team."

With that sort of job description I don't think we would attract too many top managers to come and take over to be honest.

Right now if take TIMMEY with clipboard Chris as his assistant, fudge it may as well go all out and get Pleat as dof.

Jose seems to be popular with some but if we are prepared to stomach potentially pragmatic football from him, then shouldn't Benitez also be under consideration.

His record after all isnt far behind mourinho.

Allegri wants a PL job apparently but will he interrupt his sabbatical to secure it?

Anyway I think it should be one of them three.

I like Benitez too.

I’d take Jose or Benitez over Pep personally, he’s never really had a challenge yet he’s still managed to fail.

I’ll take Mourinho but not Benitez, I have never been full in on the Guardiola love, his first season at City showed him right up imo.

Jury still out on Lo Celso imo, also, whilst not a "bargain" Lamela was cheaper than his worth.

Poch took over a squad that finished 6th with Sherwood...
Lamela wouldn't go for 30m today.

He's been a decent squad player but for a record transfer he has been a failure.

You think if we put Lamela up for sale someone will come in and pay 30m+ for him?

I don't see it, he's barely played for us due to his unfortunate injuries and his overall stats are poor in terms of goals and assists. Why would anyone break down the door to buy him?

I think there would be a queue a mile long and he’d go for 3 times that.

Well I really don't know how to respond to that. 90m [emoji38][emoji38][emoji38][emoji38][emoji38][emoji38]

For a bench player, strange no teams have come in for this 90m rated player who mostly starts on the bench.

I hope you're right, that sort of figure would help re-energise the team.

We need to pull the trigger soon. The further we sink the less attractive we become. Poch should have gone after the CL final. Would've been absolutely perfect. Now, the new guy coming in isn't taking over a top four regular and champions league side, he's taking over a mess. Whether the potential is in the team still to recover and get back in the hunt for top four i don't know.

What I do know is waiting any longer is going to cost us. People on the outside might think its Spurs fans overreacting and that Poch deserves time, but he doesn't. We've been brick for ages and more to the point he has been brick for ages with dire tactics, poor selections and thinking he is generally above the club and off to Real Madrid.

I'll always maintain that pulling the rug out from under the club days before the CL final was in itself a sackable offence. Now, to be frank, he's just brick and so is the team. But the players aren't brick.

Bite the bullet and give Mourinho a call.

I agree.

We could do with a dead cat bounce to get us through to the season and have a reasonable assessment and clear out.

We need a drastic change and not let this loser mentality stick after we've taken decades to correct it.

I haven't done the sums, but I believe you can cut it to look like we belong to the bottom half if you include the decline in the late part of last season.

Agree 100%. A drowning man will clutch at anything to stay afloat, but watching it is not an edifying sight. 3 at the back against Watford? Madness. High time Levy acted....

DO you remember, after MJ became manager, that it was such a treat to go to the Lane and watch us win? I'd get Jol out of retirement for the rest of the season, get Harry "Rentaquote" Rednapp back, even David Pleat could do a much better job of organising the team.

Sacked after getting us to the biggest cup final on the planet? fudging jokers on here, seriously. Beggars belief.

Mourinho would be the best choice right now.
He knows how to get results in situations where we don't.
He gets the best out of old players, including players. I think he'd get Toby, Jan and Rose firing again - they all have that cynical side that mourinho does.
He does play attacking football with good effect - it's just attack and manage to ensure a win rather attack and hope it's enough to win. It's time we grow up as a club in this regard - very few clubs win without solid game management.
He would weed out the players that are not good enough or whose head isn't in it.
We'd probably win something - elevating our status. This negates the negatives he would leave behind when he leaves in 2.5 years after a tandrum.
