Harry Kane MBE

Amen. This weekend, within 20 minutes, if the players start as motivated, focused and concentrated as they were against Brighton... we will know what is what.

I cannot help myself, but I believe the likes of Eriksen, Alderweireld and Vertonghen certainly owe Pochettino the very best they have right now more than ever (whatever that may be). Without him they would not be the players they have become.

That first bit is no surprise, we aren't agreeing on anything right now!!! :)...as for Klopp, look at how his side is set up. For pace and power above all. It is about obduracy not prettiness. Speed and power.

Who would supply the wide pace right now beyond Sonny? If you are suggesting Moura, then I have to say we disagree, because whenever Moura has played wide, he gets lost!

What is YOUR suggestion?

If Klopp came in? Id expect a hard working and mobile 3 man midfield, winks/ndombele/sissoko most likely, though Id prefer dier/lo celso myself.

rose and kwp most likely fullbacks, not ideal but serviceable.

and a front line of kane/son/moura operating as an actual 3, son left, moura right.

It wouldnt be as effective as Liverpool, but it would be basically the same template. And it would be, IMO, a damn sight more effective than we are now.

Lets be blunt - in this current team Kane must be fudging miserable.

I agree re: Kane, he must be feeling a tad grumpy. Interesting to note how many times he has been in position for a tap in/easy finish and simply not received the ball, those simple things we did selflessly for so long appear to be nigh impossible right now which is mentality for sure.

I don't disagree re: shape, and as we left the Wanda that horrible night, we discussed how it felt like Poch might well look to rebuild us in a way more commesurate with he scouters. Whilst Llalana (sp!!!) is no Eriksen, he was that sort of presence for them, and he has become surplus to requirements for Klopp as he realized speed and power were more important; I have to say, everyone talks about VVD, but Fabinho was a superb signing and has done so, so much for them.

I still think the weak link in your 3 as it stands is Moura, who simply cannot operate wide. If that front three is fluid and in constant motion, then I could see it.

I simply don't think we can risk that shape with those FBs mate.

I dont think Moura would be a wide player, I think he would be more an inside forward who can drift around. And I think its a role he could do well with.

And the FBs would be serviceable, and probably first in line to be upgraded (should suit Sessegnon to a T to be fair), but they would be serviceable IMO.

The point is though, ultimately, to illustrate how things could be done differently with the same tools. That the idea we need transfer windows to fix things just isnt really true.

Obviously the window can be a big help in improving things, but for me its most effective when there is a clear template in the team first, so we know what we have/what we need etc.

Kane I could very easily see getting really disillusioned right now. Probably the first time Ive come to thinking that.

I agree with you here.... I'd probably prefer Celso in the 3 man midfield instead of Winks though. That midfield 3 would have a decent combination of power, athleticism and ability. Replace Sissoko with a player of the same calibre as N'Dombele and Lo Celso and we'd be laughing.

How much have you seen of Le Celso playing CM?

I'll confess that all I have seen of him is his little cameo against Arsenal. But I like what I saw in terms of the way he received the ball and was able to keep it. He looked a 'press resistant' type of player from that tiny little sample.

I think some of it is probably also hope.... I'm hoping that we wouldn't have committed over 50 million quid to a player who isn't better than Winks.

he doesn’t play CM though, that’s the bit that confuses me

well he played there at PSG and was deemed a failure

In Spain he played more in the erisken role

winks is a deep lying player, Le Celso is the opposite position wise

Didn’t Lo Celso play AM for Betis last season? I’ve also not seen him play, but I doubt he was bought for the defensive tip of a diamond or the “double pivot” which Winks plays?

Would imagine he’s more competition for Eriksen, Dele, Lamela and possibly Sissoko? We really have got some great options going forward in this squad.

Bedford and Gazza Dazzla - in that case I find our pursuit of Fernandez a bit baffling and Dybala as well.

Bedford - in our old 4-2-3-1 then yes I would see Lo Celso playing as the left sided player in the 3 (like Eriksen).
Bedford - do you think in Poch's (seemingly) preferred diamond formation Lo Celso has been picked to play at the tip of it?
Gazza - I certainly don't think Lo Celso has been brought in to play at the base of the diamond. I don't think we have a suitable player to play there at all currently unfortunately.

I agree re the base of the diamond, maybe 2015/16 Dier would have worked, but there’s no guarantee we get that player back.

I think Winks in a 2 at the base could work, with the right partner.

I agree completely. I just wonder whether when Poch gets that player it will also give him the right players for the diamond?

In the diamond (which we will scrap IMO) he would play at the top or on the left

But I’ll add that the diamond doesn’t suit CM players hence the issue we have

It’s a really poor system for me and one that no one has made a success of as you need too many other parts of the team to excel

fudge me, we are going to buy Fernandes and Dybala, have Lo Celso and N'dombele and still try to play the fudging diamond ...

Bang on. Only the very best, fully loaded teams can make it work.

From what i have read on various websites and from what i saw in the YT videos of him he played CM for Betis with liscence to get forward quite a lot
