Hugo Lloris

A club captain's role is more behind the scenes these days, isn't it? Acting as the liaison between management and players, representing the club at different media/social events etc.
On the pitch it's less important as a title (imo). There were enough experienced players out there to take the lead (and who have worn the armband in the past). I saw Kane geeing up the players for the short period after their equaliser. I didn't particularly remember noticing so much of it as the game went on, whether from him or anyone else, but that might be because my head seemed to be in my hands most of the time.

Yeah I think one of Dier, Harry or Lamela should be captain. All three have drawbacks though. Harry is a bit removed from the play himself while the other two don't play enough. Jan would have been my other choice but there's a lot of smoke around him at the moment (and I don't mean him shagging Eriksen's missus).

Dier would be my choice as he is just the type of player who will give those who do not give their all a right gonad*ing, i do not see that in Kane or especially Lamela. As for those who think captains are not important all i can say is they have probably never played under a good one( assuming they have actually played at a decent level).

Captains are essential, especially when things next an extra ommph.
The theory of not needing one specific captain is that it "shouldn't only be one", not that you don't need one. Very different ends of the leadership spectrum.
Every successful team, in any life scenario, needs leadership. Thats why management structures exist. That doesn't mean those below can't lead (they should!), but it does mean you have specific people responsible for bringing that out.

I don't know how to use the like button.

Dier is the obvious choice for his organisation and tough talking.
But I think there's roles for Kane as an arm around the shoulder, keep your chin up and lamela as a follow my example, give everything you have and don't back down or give up.
Different people respond to different styles, it would be great to have a leader.

Another huge fudge up from Captain Dogbrick
Sorry he has hurt himself but his time is up too
It'll be interesting to see how Gazagniga gets on with a run of games. If he impresses he could secure the no. 1 spot. Although who impresses for Spurs anymore?!

The injury looked really, really bad. For Hugo's career, his future I hope I have overestimated the severity of the injury but when your arm goes the wrong way in an awkward landing.....Wishing him a swift recovery but I'm not even sure it's something a keeper can recover from.

From a squad perspective I hope letting Vorm go without a replacement a la Trippier y Llorente doesn't come back to haunt us, let's hope Alfie Whiteman is there by merit rather than poor planning.

That’s much more out of hope and optimism, than expectation, ain’t it?!!

He blagged the brick out of that, he knew he fudged up and done a really good job of trying to look injured, maybe a career in acting when he is done with football?

He will get better treatment than you for sure.i remember naradonna returning back to competitive football 3 to 4 months after breaking his leg when mere mortals are expected to return to the game in twice the time. And that was decades ago.

That’s the one bit of not terrible we’ve had today.

Obviously it’s never good to get an injury and this one isn’t trivial but it looked like it was something awful at the time.

Of course . Elbows are very difficult to repair. The range of motions etc it bends and allows lower arm to rotate. I did have good treatment just destroyed the ligaments so badly lost some range of movement unfortunately.

That’s a howler today injury aside.
