Toby Alderweireld

Sánchez has looked like a mistake waiting to happen every time I've watched him for what seems like ages. Alderweireld and Vertonghen are our best pairing, and greater than the sum of their parts. Quit the fúcking mind games and get them in the XI.

Logical that he would sign a new deal if we're offering to double his salary. I'm not sure that he's someone who another club is going to pay huges amounts for next summer, even if on a freebie, so could see him taking a 2-3 year deal with Spurs for double his money and then playing out his last 2-3 years back at Ajax

Probably a huge realisation that he has not played this too well either. He did not leave before, did not leave for the 25m clause he and his dad put in and now he looks to wind down his contract and no one will give him a bumper pay day he expected once it expires due to his age. SO the Spurs offer is bar far the best offer.

That deals been on the table for a couple of years now I believe? Wasn’t it rumored he’d agreed a deal in the region of 120/130k a week, then VVD went to Pool for 200k so Toby backed out asking for more. It got Poch’s back up which is why he was frozen out the remainder of that season.

It’s only logical that he accepts now because no one came in for him and he’s realized the deal we offered 2 years ago is the best he can hope for now. He’s basically halved his earnings the last 2 years.

To be fair, I have no issue with that tactic - he's putting himself first and has stayed professional.
I'd have done the same.
Looks like it might apply to Verts and Eriksen too.

Doubling his current salary isn't mega money. £120-30k a week.

Hindsight he'd have put pen to paper 2 seasons back.
