Clinical trials??

That's one thing I'm finding out tomorrow.

From what I gather, you get minimum ?ú1750, the rest is dependant on time spent there. Seeing as they're suggesting I'd be there between 10-14 days.

So how did this pan out?

I remember the Parexcel Elephant Man issues a few years back, that looked no fun but then there are ALOT more safe human testings you can be involved in.

I imagine some on here have recreationally put stuff in their bodies with no idea where it was coming from.

I think this depends on a few things.

- Test by universities would be much safer than those by pharmaceutical or cosmetic companies, because they are subject to much tighter regulation

- There's a difference between basic and applied research. Basic research is more risky because it's looking at more unknowns

- Look at the animal testing that has been done first. If it's gone through zebra fish and primates, it's likely to be ok

- If you have a serious condition, definitely look at targeted clinical trials looking to remedy it. I have a friend currently involved in trials looking to delay MS progression - that type of stuff is good. But being healthy and becoming a guiney pig for small financial gain - yeah, well, Darwinism.

It was mostly coming from Andy B down the Red Lion:rolleyes:

Mate of mine did Flucamp a few years ago.

Spent 10 days dossing in the room they gave him, on the play station, reading etc - proper jolly away from the Mrs. Pretty sure he got the placebo so he didnt even feel unwell at all!

Got paid £2k I think at the end.

He thought it was great.

I'd be quite happy to do it so long as they guaranteed I got the placebo. And full payment, of course.

Done a few trials....there are two companys one in Leeds and one in Nottingham I've heard of,good money for some trials....best ones are the longer ones,so you got to be away for a month or so plus the need to go back up a couple of times for the day to give blood, all costs are covered. You got to give yourself a three month break between each trial plus your BMI needs to low as well(between 28-32) . You could earn 8k,tax free if you got time on your hands,i got one for 5 days and a few blood tests got 1k for it. Would do more if i had the time...getting paid to watch netflix and prime all day lol...
