Interesting to see how Ferguson places in the list:
Code:
JM WP=65.6 SR=0.719
DM WP=56.3 SR=0.625
LvG WP=53.1 SR=0.625
OGS WP=53.1 SR=0.583
AF WP=34.4 SR=0.490

SR = Success Rate (fraction of available points* won).

* all competitions treated with league equivalence
United were pretty brick when SAF took over weren't they? They certainly wasn't in as good position as they are now, so don't think it's very comparable.

They'd finished 4th the season before.* Ferguson took over in November 1986 after an indifferent start to the season under Atkinson (P13 W3 D4 L6 F16 A16). They went on to finish 11th with 56 points.

* top 4 for the previous 5 seasons, in fact (and with two FA Cup wins in the same period).

Financially the game has changed. When Fergie took over they didn't have a worldwide network of noodle and fish-sauce sponsors. They may have had some advantage financially but the rules on transfers didn't favour the rich the same way.

Moyes, LVG and Mourinho were managing the richest club in Britain in an era where that status matters.

Manchester United full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has withdrawn from the England squad because of a back injury.

Wan-Bissaka was named in Gareth Southgate's senior side for the first time for the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Kosovo.

An England statement said the 21-year-old had returned to his club "due to an issue with his back".

With Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kieran Trippier already in the squad, no replacements are planned.

England play Bulgaria on Saturday at Wembley (17:00 BST) before entertaining Kosovo three days later at Southampton's St Mary's Stadium (19:45 BST).

Like clockwork. I wish we did more of this.

Do more of what? Get injured? It was reported after their game that he picked up a minor issue, but was going with the England squad anyway. They have now assessed him, and found no use for him in his current state.

Most kids dream of playing for their country, even in England were there is an agenda to demean "rational" national pride, football has become sick with all the money and fans who have no respect for the game or their opponents, I feel sorry for people with this modern attitude where they cannot appreciate the talent of other teams and players or see the honour of representing their country. You just need to look how most normal people got excited by the progress England made in the last world cup and the interest the success in the recent cricket tournament mean to many who don't subscribe to put England down as it's fashionable. I'm not a fascist or racist, I have spent most of my life doing anything I can to stop those people spreading their filth, but I do have a degree of pride in the sporting achievements of my country (England) although I do consider myself British.

The ’cool kids’ in the playground like to deride international football. Bless’um!

Most of the "cools kids" have father's who think football started with the premiership and support the old "Sky Top 4", it's confusing times for them as their beliefs are challenged and they lose their hair.

I’m a cool adult then, I’ve been belittling international football for decades.

Also, when I was a kid, kicking a ball around the garden, taking one twos off the side of the raised pond and leaving the tree standing as I danced around it, I dreamed of keeping a clean sheet in the European Cup final, that’s what football is all about.

I wonder why De Gea signed on for another few years
