Harry Kane MBE

Yes he did lay his hands on him but not enough to force Kane to go to ground the way he did. Sanchez regularly shoves people but not every shove is a foul.

I appreciate some dives will split opinion but you seem to be suggesting that Kane doesn’t ever dive? Sorry but there have definitely been times when he has dragged his leg against an opponent and manufacture

We have been here before regarding other players. I think it's best we move on. Nothing good will come of this continued back and forth IMO.

I think you are over exaggerating steff. People are naturally sceptical as Kane has previous for going to ground too easily and manufacturing contact. He’s certainly not the only one but he’s the England captain and one of the most high profile players in the league so maybe that’s why it’s highlighted more. Certainly don’t think there’s any witch-hunt or anything like that.

It’s natural for fans to defend their own but I don’t like to see players go down like that especially when they could stay on their bloody feet and score or set up an easy chance for a teammate. No one ever seems to mention that. What happened to trying to score or create an opportunity for someone else rather than taking the easy option and falling to the ground and trying to “win a penalty”?

See my post on this thread Sunday night.

Previously I wouldn’t have minded either (as lots of others do it). Refs however seem to be anti pens at the minute, so I’d immediately focus on trying to score from open play.

+ It will only take one or two examples of going above and beyond to stay on your feet and the vibe could move back your way quite quickly.

Just touching on the refs again for a minute, you will notice no yellow card for Kane against Arse or Newc and no yellow card for Dilva against Bournemouth. Maybe refs are deciding they don’t have to make a decision as VAR should step in if they’ve made a howler, even though the so called bar is very high for clear and obvious.

The latter part is right for sure
Their waiting on VAR and they won’t over turn a ref so their all washing their hands with it

I ask you again; did Sokratis lay two hands on Kane and shove him? Forget anything else, I would simply appreciate your response to that question. As for “staying on their bloody feet and score or set up an easy chance” etc, I find it hard to believe Kane would not rather do either, however, regardless of whether he has checked his run slightly or not, why has Sokratis laid two hands on him and shoved? That action has nothing to do with playing the
ball. One other question; is it against the rules to not run full pelters when one on one?

There was a decision to be made. I think Atkinson bottled it. You don’t. And now we have a “cheat” narrative.

Madness.

Sanchez gets dug out for those challenges as they nearly always result in fouls

You can’t push players ... it’s a foul if you do. You can’t even do that in Rugby

I said a few times and everyone mocked me. But Kane has played as a lone striker in a Poch pressing team for 5 years.

He is close to being finished. He has 2 seasons at the top left in him due to the amount of running he has to do.

I think this is also the real reason Eriksen wants to leave and the reason we ruin central midfielders. The high pressing game takes the edge off players.

Was saying before that Bielsa who is Poch's guru hasn't won anything in years. His teams are notorious for getting close and then burning out, as happened again with Leeds last season.

I think its a lot of noise that tries to come to a point but cant.

If the simple truth is that things are quite compromised right now and we are simply making the best of a bad situation, as opposed to our current team set up(s) being some sort of over arching strategy, then there isnt a story.

And yet somehow that writer managed to conjure 1,500 words out of it....

I'd invite those with a bit of time to read this and pass on their thoughts. I don't want to jump in straight away with my response as it may be honed by some of your own considered opinions.

It's a bit too long to simply cut and paste.

Read this yesterday
For me it shows a lack of awareness in the press of tactics and systems and Kane is clearly adapting his game to accommodate the other players around him as much as anything else

The Kane their comparing too wasn’t playing with son. He was playing with dele.

Playing with son you would be mad not to make yourself a target for the defender and free up space for him.

However against lesser sides who sit deep you may need a different tactic and that’s when we will see Kane play more in the face of defenders

Blimey you do have it in for Kane don't you.

Having watched Kane as much as anyone I am struggling to think of a previous occasion when he has been found guilty by common consent of a clear dive in the box.

The problem of course is that a lot of the time opinions on diving are highly subjective. No doubt there's been the odd occasion when he has been accused of diving, but that does not necessarily mean that is what actually happened.

So I'd say the onus is upon you to come up with chapter and verse. When and where did he dive and can you provide a video link to prove it?

Otherwise as far as I am concerned it simply did not happen.

Kane has developed a reputation for diving, whether you think its right or wrong is up to you. I know fans of several other teams who comment on this, even Greg did on here the other day and have seen it mentioned on various other websites. He's been booked at least twice for diving too.

You realise that’s a sarcastic video don’t you?

You dont think any of those are dives?:D

Anyway I dont care that he does, practically all top players do it. What is ridiculous is people on here calling out the likes of Salah for doing it as a cheat, then defending Kane as if he doesnt do the same. The rose tinted glasses on this forum can be quite spectacular at times.....

Do not disagree with that at all, but fans of all teams think their players do not dive. ( they do of course).

But this is EXACTLY the sort of new era social
media garbage which becomes “the” narrative by proxy. A few people decide to spuriously accuse someone of something, some ithers make a meme, then some cobbled together video and suddenly we have a “reputation”
manufactured by a few numpties and based on an intent to create disproportionate false narratives. Frankly, if the way Kane plays as a striker makes him a “diver” and a “cheat” then we need to prep cute video montages for every striker in the league.

I never like agreeing with a “common view” just because it is common.
As of yet, I have seen people either ignore Sokratis shoving Kane with two hands, or in Jurgen’s case, attempt to definitively gauge the amount of strength in the shove versus speed of motion and size of Kane (something which I -as someone who still plays- find ludicrous).

It is a manufactured situation. And fan forums as centres of expertise on such matters? Come on!

And here we are!

I have consistently said that IF you make undue physical contact with an attacking player in the box, you are giving the ref a decision to make.

Diving, for me, is going over without contact. Throwing yourself to the floor.
Like it or not, putting yourself between the defender and the ball is NOT “diving”...it is initiating, or inviting, contact. IF a defender is clumsy and stupid enough to then put two hands on the player and push them, that player is forcing the ref to make a decision. Kane has not gone over with no contact. There is most certainly contact (I have not even looked below the waist because Sokratis has put hands on him).

Again, there WAS a decision to make, it was made and that is that. Kane was not booked for “diving” because there was contact but Atkinson chose to bottle it and see it as six of one, etc. Fine. His decision. Yet here we are, still discussing this spun narrative of Kane being a “diver”...

Their were two dives in that
No contact, just tumbles
