Tactics Thread

I can imagine that you couldn't be bothered to go over how he is wrong about Sissoko :D

Tottenham had not bought players in over 500 days, and some of their most recent purchases had included Vincent Janssen and Moussa Sissoko.
That wasn't meant as a compliment.

Spurs fans should expect to see much less Moussa Sissoko, whose fit with Ndombele in a two appears quite weak. If we do see Sissoko and Ndombele together, it would likely be in a midfield three. If Lo Celso is considered a direct Eriksen replacement, expect to see Harry Winks and Eric Dier at the base of midfield quite frequently, with Sissoko the odd man out. While a legitimate European hero last season for Tottenham, a team with Spurs’ aspirations clearly needed to see fewer minutes from him, and he is now properly situated as a solid rotation option, not a locked-in starter.
Apart from the hero hyperbole I'd say that's pretty accurate.

The stats man points out even if we lose Eriksen, Lo Celso would cover his loss and NDombele would cover Dembele's position. Lo Celso and Ndombele won't be playing most games this season. it's all very well players having decent stats that's important but at some point they will get injured and
we will end up like last season with lack of decent cover!
That's why we still need Eriksen. The more quality players and depth in the squad the better and that's why the likes of City and chelscum win things!!! Depth of cover..

"correction" Lo Celso and NDombele will more than likely get injured at some point!
also I forgot to mention obviously how important rotation is...

Someone put this elsewhere, but it deserves to be watched by everyone

To see how we flick from 4411 to 433 to all sorts of different formations within seconds... one minute Eriksen high, the next defending. Sissoko defending, then pushing high.

Seems like Poch needs a hand. How would you set us up?

Son, Kane and Hugo are shoe-ins? But the rest?

Foyth-Toby-Verts-Rose
Sissoko(Dier)
Eriksen (Winks) - Ndombele (LeCelso)
Moura(Lamela) Son (Alli)
Kane

You could play Dier instead of Sissoko etc.

I like that.

With Lo Celso and Sessegnon taking over from Eriksen and Rose/Davies as time goes by.

we need a true DM to play DM, winks is not a DM, he can't see danger, he is not strong enough in the tackle, he runs from here to there instead of sensing where the problem will be
the only one who can play there at the moment is Dier (wanyana is not up to it now)
how has it got to it when Sissoko is a key player ? what can he do other than run ?

4-2-3-1. Two of Winks, Ndombele and Sissoko deep in midfield. Competition for the right back spot, competition for the left back spot if Davies recovers form or Sessegnon is good. The rest of the team picks itself until Lo Celso is back.

With everyone fit and ready, in a 4-2-3-1 sort of formation:

Lloris
Foyth - Toby - Jan - Rose
Dier - N'Dombele
Son - Eriksen - Dele
Kane

What we really need to do, is find the formation that best suits our players - and stick with it. Isn't that the basics of football management?
