Dani Ceballos

ARSENAL NEAR CEBALLOS LOAN

Arsenal are increasingly hopeful of completing a loan deal for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos, according to Sky sources.

It is understood that Real initially preferred to sell Ceballos, but changed their mind after he impressed in the Euro U21 championship.

The deal will go through once Real boss Zinedine Zidane gives final approval.

Tottenham were also in talks for the player, but it is thought they wanted to do a permanent deal for Ceballos.

Seems like that option to buy is the spanner in the works on this one.

Arsenal are desperate enough they'll offer him games, and development, then he'll be on his merry way back to Madrid.

Probably the right call for us. He is a good player, Id really have liked to sign him, but not without the option of buying.

Even then Madrid would insist on a buy-back clause, in case they actually turn out to be any good

Providing it was on a "if we choose to sell" basis, and not on an "if Madrid decide they want to buy him we have no choice" basis, that would be fine by me.

Madrid pay big money for players, regularly over pay, not a bad deal to have in your back pocket if you choose to cash in...

I think the intention of both players is clear, and its obviously lost on that fan.

Its cool though, he wont be able to handle it when reality bites later in the season and we finish above them again.

Would laugh my arse off if we did it just to put up the fees.

Not a fan of loaning players in seems small time in you get uncommitted players.

We need to get Eriksen out and the lad from Bet is and the lad from Roma in.

If Toby goes then Konate or uplamenco from RB would be my choice to replace him.

How does Winks stack up against this graph?

When the links to this player first started I don’t think anyone was that fussed? Fine if he signs, but far from a priority. It seems the longer the rumors have lasted and then the links to Arsenal, the better the player has become?

Apparently they see him as a replacement for Ramsey
Now Ramsey to me played a less creative more finishing role like Dele and form what little I’ve seen of Cabellos he is not that kind of player
Looks to me like another creative player when they need defensive players again....

The grass is always greener... hopefully Ceballos will be unable to manage those figures he hit for Madrid whilst at Goons...

It's a marker of our changing fortunes when we get #1 target and (hopefully soon) #2 target on permanents, and they end up with our back-up choice on loan.

Totally agree, we've persuaded two top midfielders to join us whereas they've managed to get a player on loan who has clearly stated he sees his future at RM.

So tackles, interceptions and pressure, Ceballos is far ahead. He does look like an interesting prospect based on graphs, but I’ve never seen him kick a ball!

If we can go in to this season with Winks, Ndombele, Sissoko, Dier and Skipp as CM options with Lo Celso and Dele in the mix there as well (Eriksen also in a dream scenario), then I wouldn’t be losing sleep about the CM position.

The style of the individuals works out for us too - getting a line breaker and a high-tempo playmaker (which we needed) whereas they get the metronome (which doesn't replace Ramsey, and we didn't really need because we have Winks)
