There a few now for me who are definite ship outs:

Dier
Wanyama
Lamela (I’m particularly sad to say)
I’d take any sort of decent money for Eriksen

Obviously Janssen and Llorente

Trippier is hanging by a thread but I’d give him next season, although would like us to buy a young RB.

Midfield is the main area for an upgrade for me, although I do think we now need someone to put serious pressure on Harry now.

None of those players were the issue tonight. Our highest priority has to be right back. After that a central midfield ball player and an inside forward who can double up as a centre forward in that order.

No, not slating the players but being realistic. We did not play well. He needs to admit that to himself as much as anyone.

Hopefully he was a little more aggressive in private.

I don’t mind this kum by yah brick in public but the players need to know what is and isn’t acceptable.

We need two new RBs if trippier is the best in the managers eyes

2 CM as well

I don’t have much to say other than bravo to Rose, Vertonghen, Son, Winks and Lloris who seem to me to give their all week in week out regardless of the occasion or opposition. And also thanks to Lucas for what was an amazing hat trick against Ajax.

Would be sad if any of them left.

Otherwise COYS and we’ll be back.

Pochettino's verdict
“We need to feel very proud of the effort, how we fought to get to this final. We were very unlucky to concede that goal from the penalty. We played so well in the second half. It’s not easy to play against a team that plays transition very well, taking risks. I feel so proud. We were a little bit unlucky. Being 1-0 down from the start changed the plans completely. It’s not easy. But having been in the Champions League final for the fist time, we have to be optimistic for the future.

“It’s about learning. Use this experience like Liverpool did last year. I’m so pleased to manage this group of players and I congratulate Liverpool because they’ve had a fantastic season. When you live this experience, you want to do it again, to play in the best game in the world after the World Cup.”

Hands up who thought we “played so well in the second half”.

How can that be equivalent to an opponent being taken out with bad foul or one of our players handling the ball to gain an advantage. Accidentally handballs are total flimflam. Especially when it hit his chest first. fudging joke

Because referees historically are not smart enough to understand the definition of “intentional” and because football fans are completely disgusted by deflections off of hands, not testicles, hairy backs or arse cheeks, just hands, the powers that be had no where else to go.

We do need freshening up but Liverpool were just as brick as us. If we'd had the luck they had tonight, it wouldn't change the fact that we need to move a few on.
It’s going to be interesting to see what Poch and the club do now in terms of ins and outs, but also using the stadium and elevated status in general to push us on.
Bottom line is though, I trust in Poch*. What he has done this year against all the odds has been nothing short of a bloody miracle.

*even though a lot of the time I feel like I don’t!!!

Yeah but it's not just about tonight. Each has been an issue across the season. Dier and Wanyama because they have not played well in that central midfield position and Lamela, because, well he's always injured and so cannot influence our season. I think the central midfield position is the most pressing. Which seems to be why we are after Ndombele and Lo Celso. Then a RB and CBs to replace our ageing pair.

We were better second half .. just could not find that finish and score.
The team have done remarkable but blew it in the Prem..we just did not have that back up of class in the squad.
As they say so near yet so far..

Not all luck tho Scousers defended properly. Both goals came from errors not luck. Before the alleged handball Trippier is all over the gaff (again) second goal was a 2/3 errors not clearing our lines.

It’s always the difference in big games. And our manager went with his heart over his head and played Kane . Poor choice he was awful tonight. VVD handled him easily.

Agree re tonight. I was commenting more generally on a season in which we’ve lost 20 games.

I think the biggest thing we learned tonight, and probably over the season, is that Harry shouldn’t walk straight back into the team after injury and that he needs serious back up. We need to change that mindset imo.
