Chairman's message

Crouch, Defoe, Kranjcar, Bassong, Keane, Palacios. End of the 09/10 season, we'd hit 4th spot and CL football. Looking back, I'd say that was a very deep squad compared to what we now have. However, the central point is that buying those players paid off.

Two more clubs with bigger resources to compete with these days (Sheik backed City and a resurgant Liverpool)

At that point we were the 5th biggest team resource wise,( if you take in to consideration City had only just begun on their current path) Considering Liverpool were in dire straights at the time then you can see why at that point buying players of our level was enough to finish 4th - 5th best team, one team from above performed under par = finishing 4th.

Currently we're 6th biggest resource wise (and further afield than then probably) buying players of our level now just won't be enough - we must invest in potential if we have any ambition to make up the financial disadvantage we have

meh letter but at least its honest, and clear, not hiding and not promising another false dawn. true credit to the PR department.

Good letter, other than the first paragraph being written with a huge slice of hindsight! I'm sure it wasn't how Levy viewed this season when he was signing the cheques for Baldini's scatter-gun transfer policy. Glad Baldini appears to be paying the price for failure. Bringing youngsters through was not part of Baldini's plan (in the short term at least), if the number of signings is anything to go by.
Hope we look to bring in a few better signings this summer. I'd like to think Levy trusts his coaching team and will back them with financial support when needed.
Not sure what to make of Levy's intention of delivering the best stadium in Europe. I'd settle for the best stadium in North London! My first criteria would be a greater capacity...
I'd love to see a team going forward dominated by home grown players, the long term plan is in good hands, even if there are a few low points along the way.
Hope 2016 sees more respect shown to the FA cup. Thought our effort this season was a bit embarrassing.

whilst I'm in such a positive mood, you have to say ENIC have done a great job, they took over a club that finished 14 every year and in 15 years they have turned that into 5th

Count how many of those have been 'failures' and how many have succeeded. I'd wager you'd get a 66-33 percent split in favour of successes over failures. But hey, let's keep buying Stamboulis and Fazios. Why bother even building the mythical revenue-boosting stadium, then? We can buy endless lists of 7 million pound players with the cast iron guarantee that statistically speaking, enough of them will come good to cover our losses: thus, we can happily float around mid-table for all eternity, trophy-less but self-sufficient in an era where even UEFA have announced their intentions to water down their FFP rules to allow more clubs to spend in an attempt to win things and show ambition.

Look at the clubs that made most of those signings - they were either at the top of the Lge at the time or are a huge club.
The few players on that list we could have realistically got were hugely overpriced ( Andy Carroll) or in inflated Lge's ( Russia, Ukraine)

Why 7 million? Is that what Levy said to the trust?

Fazio has been a success this season. If his existing competitors at centre back (Kaboul, Chiriches) has done as well as Fazio this season I think we would have picked up a solid chunk more points.

Stambouli has been a backup most of the season, primarily because Bentaleb has been tremendous. But Stambouli showed during the ACN that he is a capable backup in that position, something we needed at the start of the season.

Vorm has come in and is more than adequate cover for Lloris. Dier looks a great talent and has already been important for us this season. Ben Davies has had a poor season overall, but is only a bit older than Dier and certainly a PL level left back - something we needed at the start of the season.

Had their fees been combined and spent on one bigger star player with a likely success rate somewhere between 50% and 66% it would not necessarily have made us stronger than that, unless completely and rather instantly a success.

Where we were last summer I think we made the right approach in the transfer market. Now we're somewhere else and in a much better situation to see 1-2 potential first choice upgrades come in, I hope we do so if we find value in the transfer market.

A message to supporters from our Chairman, Daniel Levy, ahead of our final game of the season against Leicester City at Wembley today.

Dear Supporter,
It is hard to believe that it was only this time last year that we were saying goodbye to White Hart Lane and preparing for a season at Wembley.

I write this at a time when we have one remaining game and have already qualified for the Champions League for a record third successive year. A win today would guarantee a top three Premier League finish.

It is a fantastic achievement for Mauricio, his coaching staff and the team to have secured a top four finish, an FA Cup semi-final and last 16 of the Champions League – being knocked out by Juventus who have gone on to win a League and Cup double for the fourth successive season. To have done this while essentially playing every home game ‘away’ at Wembley is even more remarkable.

We broke the record for the attendance at Premier League matches no fewer than three times – beating Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal on those occasions. In the Champions League we filled Wembley and witnessed remarkable games against Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

This season also saw us match our longest unbeaten run in the Premier League – a run of 14 games – and finish top of our Champions League group that included this year’s finalists and current holders, Real Madrid.

Many of our players achieved milestones – Harry Kane became our all-time top Premier League goal scorer and joined the 100 Premier League goal club; Hugo and Jan played their 250th games for us and Jan became the most capped player in Belgium's history; Christian Eriksen was named Denmark's Football Player of the Year for a record-equalling fourth time and Heung-Min Son won AFC Asian International Player of the Year for a second time.

We had three players, Jan, Christian and Harry, named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Season – making it 11 in the last three years – more than any other club.

It is you, our supporters, that I want to especially acknowledge for the huge part you have played this season.

With a capacity nearly three times that of White Hart Lane we welcomed more fans than ever and hopefully gained new ones. You filled Wembley and I doubt there are many teams that could have enjoyed such support throughout the season.

Around the world we saw our Official Supporters’ Clubs grow to 165. It is always heart-warming to hear about the work so many do for good causes in their locality, among them our Supporters’ Clubs in Texas who came together to support the relief effort following Hurricane Harvey in Houston.

As a Club, despite the busy time we find ourselves in, we continue to deliver on our commitment to our communities. This season we have done this in Brent too, holding jobs fairs, healthy living initiatives, grassroots coaching and community ticketing.

I should like to thank all the staff at Wembley, Brent Council, residents and local services for accommodating and supporting us during our season here. We have been made to feel so welcome and it has been our pleasure delivering projects and programmes in the local area, several of which are set to continue.

Back home we opened the London Academy of Excellence Tottenham in Lilywhite House, bringing first-class teaching from top independent schools to the area's brightest children.

We also restored Percy House – a property with close historical ties to the Club – to its former glory. With its doors right on the High Road in Tottenham it is a focus for education and employment, delivering training, mentoring and job brokerage opportunities.

Across all sectors including catering, marketing, design, architecture and property, we have delivered, at the time of writing this, 1,317 jobs for local people.

We are seeing real, tangible, quantifiable benefits from our new stadium for the local community.

And there is much more to come. Our new stadium and the associated developments – such as the museum and Sky Walk – will bring, in addition to football from the best league in the world, NFL games with fanfare and fanzone activations, music concerts and also seek to host leading international sports competitions. It will pump millions into the local economy.

As you all head off for the summer period we shall be working hard on the final stages of the new stadium. With a project of this scale there are always challenges and unknowns, but contractors, with a workforce approaching 3,000, are working around the clock. We shall ask for your support in attending the two test events we shall run in advance of the formal opening. We shall give a further stadium update, including the dates for these events, as completion times become more certain.

We shall shortly see the finishing touches made to our player accommodation Lodge at the Training Centre, a further enhancement of our world-class facility. We look forward to sharing details of this with you and welcoming the Brazil national team for their pre-World Cup training and preparation.

I wish all our players heading off with their national teams well and a safe return to us ahead of our US Tour.

And I wish you and your families a wonderful summer. Your support has been nothing less than amazing. My thanks to you all.

Yours,

Daniel

I love him. And I love his shiny head...I shall most certainly try to attend these test events even if it’s a international tiddlywinks or pony trials.

A message to supporters from our Chairman, Daniel Levy, ahead of our final game of the season against Everton at the new stadium this afternoon, as published in today’s official matchday programme.

Dear Supporter,
What a journey it continues to be!

We are near the end of a season that will live long in our memories for so very many reasons. Moments we could only dream of that have now become reality.

We started the season back at Wembley while we overcame delays to our new home. A period that also saw us host a domestic cup game at Milton Keynes. Mauricio, his coaching staff and the players simply got on with the task in hand and were ultimate professionals. They have my total respect.

Six weeks ago we came home after a long and difficult journey. None of us will ever forget that emotional night here against Crystal Palace, when Premier League football returned to N17 as we opened the doors and turnstiles of our amazing new stadium.

Today we have our last Premier League match of the season and the opportunity to end our home campaign on a high with a win which could elevate us to third place in the Premier League.

Securing a top four spot to give us Champions League football for a fourth successive season is in itself something of which to be immensely proud.

But today is not our last game of the campaign. Heroic performances against Emirates Marketing Project and Ajax have taken us to a Champions League Final.

Even before the incredible events of Wednesday night in Amsterdam, this campaign has been one of the most epic in the Club’s history.

I am delighted for Mauricio and the team – it is so well deserved and evidence of the truly amazing spirit we have within this squad. I hope they realise the total joy and exhilaration they have given us fans. We are so proud of them all.

To reach the final against Liverpool on 1 June is something we have all achieved together. Everyone contributes to a team – staff, players, management and fans. No one person can do this alone, it’s the strength of everyone pulling together in the same direction which brings success and I thank each and every one who is part of this team including the millions of our fans around the world.

We dare to dream and we want nothing more than to bring the Champions League Trophy to North London.

It’s been unbelievable and now it’s time to believe.

After all... To Dare is to Do.

COYS!

Daniel

Usually he mentions a bit about the squad/transfers but nothing this time around.

Praying he now doesn't think that we're fine with no transfers because we made the CL final.

Naughty boy ;), you know as well as i do ( i hope) there will be signings this summer. Might not suit your ideas of who they should be but that will not be a surprise. :)

I got an uneasy feeling something has happened behind the scenes..one reason we didn't sign anyone could be Poch has hinted that he may want to move on,during the Jan window there was a lot of talk of him going to man ure/r.madrid,so Levy aint going to sign off a £40 mill transfer if Poch wants to go and now after last weekend when the goons gave us fourth place Poch comes out with his strange statement of packing things up and going. Did he get up off his seat yesterday at the game ,not sure, his programme notes was of now, and nothing of next season, even Levy didn't say much at all.

With Chelsea, the goons, and man ure all up in the air with their developments there is golden chance of us stamping authority of being in the top three next season but we need to get numbers in asap...very good quality personnel is required,we made over 200 mill from the prem and champs league this year, jesus if its not now we can spend when can we,we even make 800k on food....

i presume Levy has told Poch there are strings attached in who he can buy, otherwords he needs to sell before he can buy....I see the week after jun 1st the week where we know we stand with Poch and everything.

I think it was a brick message, he's not telling us everything and what he plans, How does he get on with his missus? is he going to get a new car? is he getting new curtains? what players does he like? Where is he going for his holidays. When will people ever learn we will know about signing new players when the club tell us, and any one who thinks you, Levy or the media can say what 20 to 30 players and coaches have in mind for the future are just as delusional as they accuse all other fans of being.

The message is just a bit of PR take it for what it is.

Levy out for sure. That chairman ‘message’ has made us every more of a laughing stock to the entire world, as if that was possible. He didn’t even talk about the new sofa Mr. Aura wants for the lounge the coaches have their milky Nescafé cold blend in during break.

I know, but the opportunity was there. :p

I just want us to be proactive, for once. Couldn't really care who we get in (even if it's Grealish or some other Champo wonder), but get them in first. Sure, balance the books, but worry about balancing the books *after* that. Give Poch who he wants first, and give him a full pre-season with his choices. That's all.

Oh, and keep Eriksen. Tbh, if Levy pulls that off, the window will already be 50% of the way to being a success in my eyes. He's that important to us.
