VAR: Sponsored by Chelsea

I’ve got cuts all over my legs from those bloody chairs

Their fans are woeful

My old man was a City supporter back in the day and have been to Maine Road with him a few times. They have always had a good support ( not large but regular) but that all changed when they became oil rich. Now its all glory hunters and the club has changed because of it.

It’s changed massively
Their creating history now but they have lost what they had

Was chatting to a lady city fan when we left and she was moaning that there are no city players doing commentary’s or studio work and I said that’s because until recently they were all journeymen... she suggested Richard Dunne as a legend who should do more... Richard dunne!!!n

I guess she never saw the likes of , Lee, Marsh, etc, etc, they did fall down the Lges after those days though.

Though it was weird they stopped for Sons “handball” immediately - especially as it didn’t hit his hand. Surely could have played on then checked on VAR later.

But overall I don’t mind VAR - hopefully reduce big club bias

VAR is fine. The ref should have used it.
He didn't. He was wrong. Not VARs fault.

Just because the ref doesn't go to his screen, doesn't mean VAR is not being used. For the penalty, the VAR refs review the incident and inform the ref if he needs to review the incident, they concurred he made the right decision so no "official" review.

What failed yesterday was the interpretation of the law of the game concerning handling of the ball. It seems we will be discussing the interpretation of this law into eternity, regardless of whether VAR is present or not. And as the law is so ambiguous, it is impossible to say with absolute certainty that the referee got it right or wrong on this occasion.

Ironically I think they have changed the law to try and make it more black and white. (And try and reduce the importance of deliberateness). The problem is I'm still not sure what the decision should be when it hits your chest and in an instant then your arm?

A penalty seems harsh in those circumstances.

The other positive in the situation last night is the ref can have the balls to make a decision like that that early knowing VAR can run checks in the background giving him a second chance (if necessary) to back out of the decision.

Pre VAR they'd always be 'oh he can't give a pen that early' or 'he can't red card him after 5 mins' the ref would be scared in case he got it wrong or 'spoiled' the game. Which is frankly gonad*s.

An offence is an offence whenever it occurs and should be suitably punished. VAR helps the ref with this.
