Hugo Lloris

He isn't making more mistakes, everyone has just got a bit carried away with gazzaniga and are being over critical of LLoris.

LLoris always made mistakes, otherwise we wouldnt of been able to buy him and keep him.

Need to wait for Toby to leave, sort out the RB issue both another season, and then assess if we need to change the Keeper
We dont need to add Gazzinga into current situation, its neither in his or our best interests

Was Lloris that bad last season? Is our defence worse this? It would be interesting to see if he's facing more attempts on goal this season, because if he was making X mistakes per Y attempts before, then that may go some why to explaining this season (along with the WC hangover)?

I seem to remember he was pretty poor last season?

I think he’s been better this season, he’s miles ahead of Gazza still.

I think keepers make a lot more mistakes now. Pickford/Allison etc have all made howlers

Its the hardest job in the team ( imo) and all keepers make mistakes, however unlike most outfield players who do the same there is no hiding place for keepers. He has not been at his best this season ( for whatever reason) and he is making more mistakes then he has in previous seasons. He is still the 3rd best i have seen in a Spurs shirt and unless we can replace him with a unknown ( so far) keeper from somewhere then we have to hope he can recover his best form.

Jennings & Clemence ahead of him?

Look, there's 2 golden rules of being a keeper that cats are taught the first time they put on gloves as a 7 year old, never get beat at your inside post, stay on your line or come for the ball, never dither. keepers are a lot like refs, if they've had a good game, you don't talk about them, we should be expecting better from a world cup winner no less.

I didn't see Jennings or Clemence in the flesh, the best I've seen was Good Gomes, the most consistent was Friedel (Thorsvedt not far behind).

I'd probably take Hugo over the others as he's been very good for a fair few years and the exceptional has outweighed the ridiculous, thats a narrowing ratio though.

And despite the mistakes he’s still made a ton of amazing saves that have kept us in games. I’m sure none of us on here ever make a mistake at work.

It's like Harry, or dele or Eriksen fudge up and they get given an easier time because they have credit in the bank, Hugo has saved us loads of times but doesn't seem to count.

You are all over analysing.
Simply put - he’s a “French c*** who should f*ck off back to France”.

Courtesy of someone near me last night.

to all those who are defending him, with varying levels of commitment, there's a simple test to run here.

Has he been better than Allison?
Has he been better than Edison?
Has he been better than Kepa?
Has he been better than Cech/Leno?
Has he been better than De Gea?

We're a club looking to win the prem, not a midtable side getting a nose bleed from being so high up the league. We absolutely need to have the best in all positions. Kane for instance has been as good as or better than all of the equivalents this season overall. Lloris is probably better only than Kepa (in his first season) and Cech (in his last season) of that list.

I stand by the fact that he needs genuine competition. He needs to know that if he fluffs his lines he has one or two other keepers who are able to take his spot. I don't think he feels like that at the moment and I think it shows in his decision making at times.

Cech, are you serious? the guy is not in the top 10 keepers in the PL, hasn't been for at least 2-3 years ...
De Gea is the best keeper in that list and he has had a really brick first half of season (basically most games before his blinder with us)
I don't think any of the other 3 are miles ahead (as I said, De Gea/Neuer were above others for while, those guys are all 2nd tier like Lloris)

And to your specific comment re competition, do any of those sides have a back up keeper really pushing for a first team spot?

Here's the reality check, keeper position is not a priority for us

- Even if we have 150M to spend in summer, nobody is even going to contemplate a keeper buy other than perhaps releasing Vorm and getting a young English keeper that doesn't take up a overseas spot.

In order
Not better than Allison but he has made quite a few errors this year
Not better than Edison but again he has had some mares too
Better than kepa IMO. He has been average iMO and no better than that in his first season
Cech/Leno are poor and cost arsenal IMO
De Gea has a shocker by his standards for most of the season and only really excelled when he played us. He let in some sof5 halal vs Burnley IMO

The only side that has any competition for their first choice is arsenal and that’s because their both a weak link now

Did you notice that the Burnley lads got the ball off the ground and made him then look less than formidable?
Hope its a lesson learned by us.

Think Fabianski has been excellent this season, mind he has had a lot of practice.
