Following the match, Argentina striker Higuain, 25, who has been linked with Juventus, confirmed his intention to leave the Bernabeu this summer. Higuain, who joined Real from River Plate in 2006, said: "I feel that my time has ended, I want a change of scene."

"They were seven intense, hard, happy years. It was a well thought out decision and it isn't easy, but I want to go to a new club, to new challenges."

"There are offers, including Juventus, but I don't know. I would like to go somewhere that can show for real that they want me."

"The club already know that I want to go and I wanted to put it to an end because it was my decision."

If that's not a clear come-and-get-me to Daniel Levy I don't know what is.

If Higuain wants to sign for Tottenham Hotspur he needs to take a very important step. He needs to communicate, in writing, to Real that he wants to leave the club. He would need to officially notify the club of his intentions with a duly signed transfer request.

This official request is essential for Real Madrid to be open to negotiations and, as such, allow Tottenham Hotspur to make an approach. As and when the Argentine international formally states this, then the clubs will open communications. The opening moves could be played out in what would likely be a lengthy negotiation process because Perez, the Madrid chairman, has been trying to work out how much money he can make on the player for quite some time now.

Tottenham Hotspur is certain that the player would be happy to join up, since he'd love to play alongside Gareth Bale, his idol, and his friend Tommy K Huddlestone. It's also known that he's a quiet character, and that he's not ready to force an exit or apply as much pressure as Lasana Diarra did last summer.

If Higuain hopes to make his dreams come true and sign for Tottenham Hotspur, then he also needs to play an important part. He needs to take that first small step, which seems like a giant leap for many players, and hand in an official written request to leave the club – his contract doesn't have a release clause.

My initial response is: well out of our league.

My straw to clutch at is: wasn't Baldini the guy who discovered him and brought him to Europe as a teenager?

we need to get our ex galacticos mabbut, edingburgh and doherty to talk him up in the press that his 'born for spurs' and then swoop in..

You think he made these comments to encourage levy to make his move?!?

I love Spurs but some of our fans are seriously deluded. He'd be a great signing for us but if he was to list the clubs he'd like to join we'd probably be somewhere in the region of 10th-14th behind the 4 who finished above us last year, the two rich French clubs, Bayern, 5 or 6 Italian clubs, possibly on a par with Liverpool and Dortmund....

He might want to leave but idea he said this to encourage us is laughable

:ross:

Well played sir. Well played indeed.

I missed the start of this. What’s going on with these threads and locks?? It’s hilarious

On his way to London, I assume a heavy cargo plane

I joke I joke

Nailed on hattrick tomorrow, more than likely injuring a player whilst doing so.

I think its a really valid point to question his suitability to the premiership.

Sarri has really stuck to his own style, and Higuain is most certainly "his" man.

He has compromised his squad, messing Kante up etc, and now insisted upon this striker - it could be from now their fortunes are dependent upon Higuain doing the business.
