Your starting 11 and formation with fully fit squad?

L
Wanyama in the last year hasn’t had one solid 90 minutes IMO

Could be because he was paired in CM with sissoko who hasn’t excelled in that role too but I’m not sure

GB has a point IMO about winks and Dier... watching them in the last few games (really small sample size) they have a balance between them and they look like they compliment each other better than any other pairing

The only other area of contention is does lamela start a fully fit team... on current form 400% but he hasn’t had this form long enough yet. It could be argued that out football has been toss for about a year but I wouldn’t say our football looks better with lamela but it can certainly be more effective

What I will say is we have some players who IMO are guaranteed to start regardless of formation and that’s Hugo, Verts, Eriksen and Kane

I wasn't saying he was wrong, was just wondering what the qualifying criteria is. A week of good performances, 6 months, 11 months and 363 days?
Is the most recent 2 months of good form preceded by 10 months of brick better than 10 months of good and 2 of brick?

Other than

Lloris
Vertonghen
Eriksen
Kane

Who has excelled for a sustained period of time?

Davies is last season I get (and this is to judge over the last year) but he has gone waaaay off the boil this season and can’t even blame the World Cup

I would still have him over Rose who is nowhere near the player he was two seasons back ( imo). And to be honest Davies is not our only player who has not really got going to their max so far this season.

Rose has been much much more like his old self this season IMO

Worryingly Davis’s has too

Last season davies was the best in the league IMO and was hugely under rated (in the same way alonso was over rated)

Hey I agree with the last part and said so adee my post... it’s a sign of how good the squad actually is IMO

Thats a cheap shot. For two seasons now Davies has been excellent and ever improving.

He isnt on form now, but come on - thats a pretty sour, and wrong, thing to say about him.

Not based on this season it isn’t

And as you quoted my words I clearly said I thought Davies had been the best in the league last season so can’t really give him higher praise

This season though he has been a massive weak link unfortunately

"Worryingly Davis’s has too" is what I take issue with. In the context of "has been much much more like his old self this season".

Simply wrong, IMHO. And uncalled for. Last season Davies was excellent, as you say. Just as he was the season before - the equal of Rose quite literally. So what is that supposed to mean? I read it as a rather negative slight on him - have I read that wrong?

He has been poor this season and looks like the player we signed rather than the one he has become

Hence my comment

I’m a Ben Davies fan bit currently he is the weakest link defensively when he plays

I can’t work out why though as he didn’t have the World Cup to worry about

Im not arguing against his current form, I just dont agree with this poor when he signed line.

I think he has always been good, and has consistently improved season on season.

This season? I dont know whats up, maybe its Rose being back in and out thats disrupting him? The whole team seems a bit off form, maybe its more a collective thing?

We signed a young raw left back he wasn’t great he has improved to be great.

Currently he looks naive and lost on the pitch IMO

If Davies wasn't a footballer he has a great look for an accountant.
he does suffer from being a 'steady Taffy'!

-------------Lloris--------------
Trippier--Toby---Jan-----Rose
--------------Dier--------------
--------Eriksen--Dele-----------
Lamela------Kane-------Moura

sums up the meteorology of some football fans. Out of sight out of mind.

It will soon be Messi! Messi who? give it a few weeks!

Dunno mate, I’ve usually found the opposite. If x is out of the team and results are bad then the reason is that x is a magnificent footballer despite the fact he’d been getting abuse for the last number of weeks he actually played.

On Alli, if he’s fit, he starts. I think he’s just getting better and is one of our top players. We have a lot of competition in that area and I guess this is a sign that Lamela and Moura have been 2 of our better players this season while Eriksen is close to undroppable.

However, for me, the three should be Eriksen, Alli and one from Lamela and Moura. At the moment, I’d play Lamela with Moura coming off the bench to terrify tiring defenders with his pace. We also still have Son who, for much of the last 12 months, has been a nailed on starter for me. I know his form has dropped a bit but he can be devastating and is another great other option to have.
