Your starting 11 and formation with fully fit squad?

I'm struggling to decide between Dele and Moura.

(Subs: Gazzanigga, Sanchez, Dier, Davies, Winks, Son, Lamela, Llorente)

Harsh on Lamela (who I've been a fan of since before his injury, let alone the last year when he's been superb. He's an amazing impact sub though.

Will be the team announced by Spurs one hour before kick off for each match. All players have their merits. Whoever is picked likely deserves it. Those who miss out could be unlucky at times, but it’s a squad game and they will get more games later on.

There's too much room between "fully fit" and "as good as he was in that season when he was really good" to pick this without a specific kind of omniscience relating to our midfielders.

Tough on Lamela, Sanchez and Moura.

I think Dembele and Wanyama need to be judged on the last 12 months, not the players they were before

Last 12 months? In that case you've got the wrong two players in centre midfield.

Dier and Winks have had exhaustion and injury problems respectively, but they have also shown they can perform at the highest level.

Whereas until they show otherwise, I think the assumption has to be that Dembele and Wanyama are essentially finished as top level performers. Wanyama is young enough to turn it round, but the signs at the moment are that he's gone Sandro

So are you judging on the last 12 months or not, or is it the last 12 months with the caveat of injury and exhaustion?

Even with that, pretty sure Wanyama was bossing it pre injury within the last year if so, and Moose was taking the tinkle out of the best in the league and Europe within the same time period.

At the moment, I think Lamela has to play. I think one of Moura or Son should always play, to give us some pace in attack. At this moment in time, I'd go for Moura as Son hasn't been in good form for awhile. Eriksen, Kane, Lloris and Vertonghen would always be in the strongest team. In centre midfield, nobody really jumps out. I'd probably give it to Dier and Winks, there's a nice balance there. Trips is our best right-back. Left-back is a bit of a toss-up, maybe Rose on the form shown this season (Davies hasn't been at his best this season). Sanchez hasn't been that great this season, he probably wouldn't make the strongest XI currently.

-------------------lloris
trippier-----toby--------vert-----rose
-------------dier-------winks
----lamela------eriksen-------moura
-----------------kane

2nd XI:

-------------------gazza
aurier-----sanchez--------foyth-----davies
-----------wanyama-------dembele
------sissoko------dele-------son
-----------------llorente

Something like that. But changes in form means players like Dele, Wanyama, Dembele, Davies, Son, Sanchez can easily be players who go into the strongest XI. So I'd expect a fair bit of fluctuation over the course of the season, with only Lloris, Vertonghen, Eriksen and Kane holding their place in the strongest XI.

Seeing as we have a really weak squad, interesting that everyone has a different team, almost like we have a decent squad

Wanyama in the last year hasn’t had one solid 90 minutes IMO

Could be because he was paired in CM with sissoko who hasn’t excelled in that role too but I’m not sure

GB has a point IMO about winks and Dier... watching them in the last few games (really small sample size) they have a balance between them and they look like they compliment each other better than any other pairing

The only other area of contention is does lamela start a fully fit team... on current form 100% but he hasn’t had this form long enough yet. It could be argued that out football has been toss for about a year but I wouldn’t say our football looks better with lamela but it can certainly be more effective

What I will say is we have some players who IMO are guaranteed to start regardless of formation and that’s Hugo, Verts, Eriksen and Kane
