Transfer Window Thread

Of course they do, no one is saying otherwise.

Yes I know they are not but its the zero flexibility in our financial situation for the Rose or the Janssen example which is worrying me.
I think I’m getting a little more anti stadium, it wonderful yes, but the timing seem a little off for me. Trying run before we can walk comes to mind.

Rose, Toby, Dembele have every right to prefer one club of another that’s part of football
We have made some very poor purchases and we are now seeing the effect.
We have waited how long for Lamela to reach a descent standard!
We are nullifying the Dele buys with too many duds. It would be fine but our transfer budget has zero room for any mistakes. Pochettino deserves a medal!

Sadly Pochettino is part of the problem as well.

Why are the pool of players he can work with so limited?

He signed off on Llorente/Sissoko etc

I don't think that there is any timing of the stadium that wouldn't have some impact on our transfer spending. Even if we had decided to move away from the current site.

You also have to consider that there is not a huge amount of flexibility in the timing, it took Levy the best part of a decade to get us to a position where we could build it. You cannot keep something like that easily on ice.

We needed a new ground, the facilities in the old one were very out of date and all the time we were there, we were going to be falling further behind.

Do you think we could have signed up our best players on new contracts without the increased revenue about to come our way?

The stadium is long overdue. Without it we could forget about trying to maintain our current position.

I don’t think he “signs off” on anything he’s part the decision but not a big part! money is the driver of everything of course but we have zero room for errors!
That is the net effect of ‘the stadium’. I’m not convinced of the timings!

He wanted Llorente and Janssen

He shouldn’t get away with our poor transfers.

A CM and a CB would be my priorities. Ndombele and... fudge I don't know any affordable up-and-coming CBs.

The trouble is ‘with it’ we may not also.
I just am not sure ‘the stadium won’t effect transfers’ is now due to unfortunate events turned into ‘events in financial markets it has killed our transfer budget for some time to come’.
You pays your money and rolls the dice. My question was were we financial ready to play the game?
Running before we could walk?

agree but he is also part of a committee, hence the successes and failures from transfers - poch is a signficant but not the only one responsible

what i don't get is llorente. its an easy of a plan B if we ever wanted one.

Declan Rice out of contract in the summer as well
He’s like a more mobile Dier, would be a fantastic signing on a free. Would be one hell of a hate figure though, rejecting Ireland for England and seeing out his contract at West Ham to sign for Spurs:D....

how about aaron ramsey?

Because we don't have the budget for superstars. That means to match the clubs with a bigger budget we have to have a better team game and the number of players suited to that are limited.

Was Grealish a “superstar” then?;)
