Summer 2018 transfer thread

We were never really in for him
Like the Pulisic debate it was based on fans wanting him rather than any actual link or bids from Spurs, as far as I can see anyway?

Actual links have been Grelash, De Ligt, Martial, Lombotka and maybe 1/2 others.

I disagree. Grealish is the only one that seems to have had genuine action, the rest are no more tangible than any other media links we have had

EDIT: posted on phone, Grealish became Freaking for some reason!

I just mean that I didnt see a single indépendant media article (e.g. not ”Hotspur related” twitter feed) linking us to Pulisic or Kovacic, whereas the others I mentioned have been in the media.

Don’t like the rumours about Joao Mario. Seems like we are entering territory of just signing a player that clubs are trying to move on, not players that we want, just to get signing completed. Not like Mario was any good at West Ham. And I know it’s rumours, but the number of times that we sign players with no logic behind them. I’d rather we signed no one than anyone just for sake of signing.

Spoke to my West Ham mates a couple of months ago who thought he was good, and wanted to sign him permanently. Also bear in mind this is just speculation, but also he was linked a few weeks back not just yesterday so doesnt necessarily mean this would be some last minute desperation signing - I think those days are well behind us.....

Atletico reject Utd's Godin offer.

As a defender myself in my youth I'm sat here waiting for a call from Mourinho begging me to sign for Utd. They've been linked to every central defender in football this summer, only a matter of time before it's my turn.

Just to be clear I will also reject him out of spite.

Well, having ranted yesterday, today I wrapped in calm acceptance, grateful for the timebeing we seem to have kept players again and knowing we do have a great squad. And the best ground in London/the country about to open. Worried we'll have a slow start (though City don't seem to have) with the WC players ariving back late, but player for player, we are where we were, and that's pretty good.

Except Ben Davies needs to learn to run faster.

I guess if we're:

Lloris
Sanchez Alder Verts
Trippier Davies
Dier Dembele
Lucas Eriksen
Kane

That's not half bad.

I really cannot see us signing anyone. I know Levy likes Deadline day but i can’t see Poch being happy waiting until the final day of the transfer window, with the season start days away.

Just doesn’T make sense to me.

It's not bad.

But we are a couple of injury suspensions away from problems.

Key is a central midfielder and another striker/wing forward. Defence can wait (assuming no outgoings). If needed I'm open to one of them being a loan with view to perm in Jan or whatever is needed to get things over the line.

At least with the other leagues windows being open later they may be more willing to sell as they have time to get replacements in,

Dele?

A bench of Moura, Son, Winks, Lamela gives us a few flexible attacking options too

#thfc are keen to sign Inter Milan midfielder Joao Mario with Daniel Levy wanting to "try everything" to get Mauricio Pochettino a signing. [Sport Mediaset]

Give me a fudging break.

He's actually looked pretty good when i've seen him, though that's only been on 1-2 occasions. Not exactly sure whether he's strong enough for a CM in our 4-2-3-1; perhaps in a 4-3-3 though

Agreed that it would be the most inspiring signing, nor make players want to stay
