World Cup 2026: Mexico, USA and Canada

Good chance of 2030 being in Europe. Who has enough stadiums to host the 64 team version they no doubt will have expanded to by then?

When are we having that Europe wide crap? Is that the next Euros?

Don't mind it going back to the Americas, but will this mean 3 host nations getting auto qualification?

Thats a point. Do all the nations hosting Euro champ games get automatic qualification. Have the cities been decided yet?

Edit: Just checked. Cities have already been decided and ALL countries have to go thru qualifying. So when Russia,Italy, Scotland etc fail to qualify they will welcome us with open arms when we roll up in their backyard to play a tournament they're not even in.

f@ckin delighted with this, I've always said the US could host a world cup here tomorrow.

Would have preferred Morocco really, the US had it in 94 and it doesn't seem like a massively popular game over there. Can't argue with the infrastructure though, Morocco have bid and lost 5 times. Got to feel for them. Hope a UK bid is on the cards for 2030.

Wanted Morocco to host the 2026 WC but can understand why it went to the joint bid of US/Mexico/Canada. As the 2026 WC will become a 48 team tournament, not sure any country can host the tournament alone. Maybe Morocco should have bid jointly with Algeria and Egypt. But find it annoying that US will have 60 of the 80 matches while Mexico and Canada will only get 10 matches each. What is the point of joint hosting if you only get 10 of the 80 matches each ? Mexico have already hosted WC twice and Canada have hosted Olympics before. Surely all the 80 matches should be distributed more equally like US getting 30 matches while Mexico and Canada getting 25 matches each.

Good to see FIFA giving the WC to countries/regions who have not hosted the WC before like South Africa, Russia(world's largest nation), Qatar (Middle East) and Canada(world's second largest nation) who will co-host the 2026 WC. After this, the important countries/regions still need to host the WC are China, Australia, South Asia (India/Pakistan/Sri Lanka), South East Asia (Malaysia/Indonesia/Thailand/Vietnam) and North Africa (Morocco/Algeria/Egypt). Some reports say South East Asian countries are planning to bid for the 2034 WC. It will be great if the WC can come to SEA someday but unfortunately most of us will be too old by then. This is why WC should be held every 2 years so that more countries can host the WC.

If you want to know where a WC will be held, you just follow the money. With that in mind, Morocco will never host a WC, unless the other alternative is Burundi.

It's a shame it's like that really. I thought Morocco would get more support, most African territories would support it obviously and I thought most of Europe as well with it being so close. That would be over 100 votes for those 2 continents.

England should stop being bitter about losing the WC to Russia and Qatar. After all, times have changed since England won the WC in 1966. Being WC hosts is not really an advantage nowadays. Only 6 hosts have won the WC : Uruguay 1930, Italy 1934, England 1966, W.Germany 1974, Argentina 1978 and France 1998. That means only 1 hosts have won the WC in the last 40 years ! So, England should stop day dreaming about winning the WC if they host it.:D

I thought the issue with that decision had nothing to do with thinking we would win it on home turf, and everything to do with it being such an obviously corrupt and terrible/unjustified decision.

Especially Qatar, I mean, FFS.

If I remember correctly, England were the favourites but the big-mouth English media spoiled it for them by bad mouthing the FIFA members:D. In any case. it was right to let Russia, being the world's largest nation and Qatar, being in the Middle East, host the WC. I think for neutrals it is always enjoyable bringing the World Cup to regions which have never hosted it before. I think for neutrals, especially Americans, it is a chance of a lifetime to visit the world's largest nation like Russia which you would normally won't even think about due to politics. No wonder the Americans have bought the most WC tickets despite their team not playing in the WC.
