Errrrrrm why are you deducting the £7m from the cost? If we didn't sign Defoethey would still owe Spurs that amount. All what's happened is that instead of giving the money to Portsmouth we've removed it from the 'amount owed' column.

In your example we've paid £11m for one years loan :(

Good breakdown Dazza, however I think it's even simpiler than that.

Say we paid £15 million, take off the £9m we received from Pompey for Defoe last year and we are down £6m.

If the £4m sell-on clause is true then this would be just £2m...

As you say, not too bad for keeping him warm for us!

Marc 74, you have ignored that a large propertion of what was owed by Pompey was for Kaboul (who was sold this summer) and for the trio.

Alos, Dazza has worked all this out with Kaboul costing Pompey just £3.5m. That is, IMO and according to other sources, quite a low estimate. More likely to be in the region of £5.5m. That would make it £22m, - £7m still owed, - £6m for the £15m fee agreed, + £4m for the sell on fee = £13m. Take off that the £5.5m for Kaboul and the £7.5m for the trio is that same £13m.

So it cost us nothing!

it don't matter if they owed us money and we cancelled their debt it was still our money

Hopefully Defoe will bang the goals in for us and form a lethal partnership with Pavlyuchenko
