Many of you will be aware of the fiasco that was the ticketting problem for the Torino game last weekend. Despite going the day before to collect my tickets as requested I wasn't allowed to by the ticket office and missed half the game queuing up for the collection windows.
I have a "correspondance" with a senior figure, who shall remain nameless, after the event and basically it was far from satisfactory. In fact although personalised to address certain points I raised it was basically the box standard response posted on the official site.
It was blamed on, amongst other things, people buying tickets on the day (despite the fact they were in a remarkably short queue at the ticket office and no where near the "Collection" windows) and Royal Mail "losing" batches of tickets due to their industrial action. Surely over a month after I bought those tickets they should have arrived eventually if they were ever posted!
Certain posters on this site are either postmen or related to postmen and they have vehemently denied all charges pointed at them by the club, going so far as to say that there is ZERO backlog of post, let alone a months worth.
In the process of my dealings with said "senior figure" I did point out to him that much as my Torino tickets had shown as despatched on the One Hotspur account but never arrived several people in the forums had expressed concern that they were having the same trouble with their Everton tickets.
Their One Hotspur account had shown them as despatched but despite receiving Arsenal and Derby tickets that had been purchased after they bought the Everton ones, they'd never arrived.
The response I receive when I mention this problem was, (and this is a direct quote from the email)."
Yes, thanks. We are on to this.
For the majority, Everton tickets were despatched a while back.
The Royal Mail do appear to have let the Club (and many other people) down very badly in recent weeks"
I personally never believed this, mainly due to the sheepish tone of voice of the ticket office girl I spoke to whilst enquiring where my Torino tickets were. It was pretty clear that there had been a ticket office cock up that they were trying to cover up.
Now in general I tend to side with the club and tow the club's official line in 99.9% of cases but considering what was written in the letter I received the NEWSFLASH on the official site today has annoyed me no end......
EVERTON TICKETS
10/08/2007 10:06:07
In advance of Tuesday night's (August 14) match against Everton, we have identified a number of bookings that were printed incorrectly and therefore not been despatched.
If you booked tickets for Everton but have yet to receive them in the post, please email evertontickets@tottenhamhotspur.com and put 'Everton Tickets' in the Subject Field.
Following last night's announcement that Royal Mail industrial action has been postponed, we will despatch these tickets via First Class post today to anyone that is able to notify us via email by 3.30pm this afternoon.
If, once you have done this, you are still not in receipt of your tickets by Monday's post, please email again on Monday and place the heading "Everton Duplicate Ticket Request". We will then ensure that duplicate tickets are ready for you to collect direct from White Hart Lane.
Due to the exceptional circumstances in this case we have taken the decision, for this fixture only, to allow supporters to collect duplicate tickets prior to the day of the match. Should your tickets not arrive in Monday's post you will be able to collect duplicate tickets until 5.30pm on Monday or from 9.30 on Tuesday morning.
We'd like to apologise for any inconvenience and unnecessary worry and frustration that this situation has caused and can assure you that the cause of this problem has been identified and resolved for future fixtures.
Thank you for your patience and continued support
So basically the club have just found a few sacks of tickets stuffed into a cupboard and forgotten about.
I wonder if they found the missing Torino tickets at the same time?
